What is the Cause and Treatment for Bleeding Gums?

1)Gingivitis: ( Bleeding gums) CAUSE: Faulty brushing technique and poor oral hygiene leads to some redness, swelling, bleeding & tenderness at the margin of gums. All this leads to pain, sensation & bad breath. This is called gingivitis.

TREATMENT: It can be cured by:
1) Learning the right brushing technique, using good mouth washes after brushing and after meals.
2) Removal of plaque & tartar by getting regular teeth cleaning by a Dentist.

What is the Cause and Treatment for Periodontitis (Bleeding gums & Bad Breath)?

CAUSE: If Gingivitis is not treated on time, the plaque & tartar gets accumulated from the tooth surface into the gums, this leads to detachment of the gums from the tooth surface from within
& forms a pocket like structure.

This pocket goes on accumulating more & more food particles each time and making the pocket deeper & deeper & thus making it impossible for patients to remove the food particles from within leading to more Bad-Breath, Bleeding gums, and pain.

TREATMENT: This condition can be treated by
1). Medicines to control pain & infection (Anti-inflammatory & Antibiotics).
2). Proper Brushing Technique & use of Good Mouthwashes.
3). Use of Multivitamins(especially Vit. C to help re-generation of
broken gum filaments).
4). Scaling & Polishing of Teeth.
5). Root Planning:- Cleaning & Smoothening the inner lower
surface of teeth & gums.

What is the Cause and Treatment for Advanced Periodontitis (Bleeding gums, Bad Breath, Bad taste & loose/Shaky Teeth & Pus discharge from gums)?

CAUSE: When periodontitis is not treated on time, the damage to the inner part of the teeth & gums goes on increasing & becomes deeper & deeper leading to damage to the inner jaw bone & thus causing excessive pain on chewing and sensation, pus discharge
in addition to bleeding gums & Bad Breath.

TREATMENT:This type of gum disease can be now treated ONLY by a treatment known as "Flap Surgery".

In this treatment, the gums are gently seperated from the tooth margin, creating an access to the infected pocket. Deep pockets of plaque & tartar are removed, the lower inner tooth surface & the inner layer of gums are cleaned, currettaged & then artificial bone powder is put onto the damaged & resorbed jaw bone to help new bone
regeneration for fresh new bone growth.

The gums are then replaced back onto the tooth in their original position & sutured.
Sutures are then removed after a week & patient advised to keep good oral hygiene by the following methods:

1) Brush twice daily in proper Vertical Brushing technique.
2) Regular flossing to remove food particles & plaque between
teeth and applying gels on the gums before sleeping.
3) Rinsing mouth properly with Good medicated mouthwashes.
4) Using Vitamin C and Calcium (if recommended by doctor).
5) Replacing your Brush every 3-4 months.
6) Regular 6 monthly dental visit and Cleaning & Polishing of
Teeth (if required).
